"Old
Gaffers" is a group of men
from the South Hams with combined life
experience of 467 years. Four Old Gaffers
were actually born and raised in
Kingsbridge and are real Devon born and
bred. All Old Gaffers have had varying
associations with the sea and have been
singing traditional songs for a long
while. They started singing sea songs
together for the Kingsbridge Estuary Boat
Club as "Shipmates", but pretty
quickly aged to become Old Gaffers. With
a large repertoire they will be making
several appearances in the South Hams in
2011.
